After a full month at home, I’m back at school for the
spring semester. We are not yet two weeks into the new year and I have to say, 2014 has
been turning out to be quite an amazing year so far. I’ve been thinking quite a
bit about what I want for myself in the upcoming year. At the start of every
year, people look forward to new beginnings and see the new year as a clean
slate.
For me, I didn’t want a clean slate. I appreciate every bump
in the road and every difficulty I have faced in becoming the person I can
finally say I am making great strides towards becoming. Everything I have
experienced in life, all the good and all the bad, has made me- me. Instead of asking for a clean slate,
we should accept that we would not be where we are today had it not been for
all of those detours and rough patches along the way. Your journey is not
designed to be perfect and flawless. It’s the challenges that make us who we
are and make our journeys so unique and true to us. Things don’t always go as
planned- and often, that is one of the biggest blessings we can encounter.
In 2014, I have so many things I hope to achieve. I have so much to look forward to- and I am
mainly excited to see where this blog will go. In only 4 days, it got 2,700+
views (AH!) I never could have imagined such an amazing outcome. One of my
friends texted me to tell me how proud she was of me, and she told me that she
believes that this blog was the best decision I have ever made. Four days into
it, I could not agree with her any more. I want to thank all of YOU for taking
time out of your days to read my mess of thoughts and see what I’m so
passionate about.
In anticipation of the year ahead, I had written down and
erased a countless number of resolutions. Ultimately, what I can always
conclude is that the one thing I want is to give and receive happiness. While
this may be an extremely generic statement, it most clearly defines what I hope
for this year. It’s easy to write down and state your resolution, but the real
challenge is making it happen. With
this blog, I hope to bring others happiness and inspiration. Sharing what I
love and inspiring others will always
be the one thing that brings me
happiness. This week, decide what your resolutions are- no matter how general
or bland they may seem. Think of one main mantra, stick with it, and live it.
Here’s to an amazing
2014,
-
Alissa
